Your stash and shopping list
The «Stash» is your private record of what you keep at home: floss, beads, kits, fabric and everything else you stitch with. It shows how much you have, where it is kept and what is running low. The stash is linked to charts and projects: the site works out which floss you are missing for a chart and puts it on a shopping list that is easy to open on your phone right in the shop. By default nobody but you can see your stash.
How to open your stash
Log in and click «Stash» in the header (/en/stash). You will see tiles for the sections: floss, beads, kits, fabric, needles, hoops and frames, patterns, stones, specialty threads (ribbons, wool, metallics).
Each section shows how many items it holds, who can see it («Visible to: Only me · change») and an «Open» button. At the top there is a «Shopping list» button with the number of items on it.
How to record floss
Open the «Floss» section. There are three ways to add floss.
One at a time, from the label. In the «Add to floss» form choose a brand, type the «Code» as printed on the label (for example 310, B5200, Ecru), set the «Quantity» and click «Add». In the same form you can fill in «Lot», «Where it is kept» (a box, an organiser, a cell number) and «Note». If the brand has no such code, you will see «No such code in this brand.» under the field.
In a batch, by searching. Click «Find colours…». In the window, search by code or name and tick the colours you need. Ticked colours stay ticked when you change the search or the brand, so you can collect a dozen at once. Click «Next», check the quantity for each colour and click «Add». If you already had a colour, its quantity grows; you do not get a second tile.
Through a brand's whole palette. In the «Whole palette:» line click a brand, for example DMC. The full list of its colours opens. Colours already in your stash come ticked with their quantity. Tick what you have, type how many and click «Save». The palette records «I have this many», not «add this many», so saving it again doubles nothing. Clearing a tick removes nothing.
Each colour of floss is a tile with its real colour, code, name and quantity. The «+» and «−» buttons on a tile change the quantity at once, without reloading the page. You cannot go below zero.
Above the tiles there is sorting («By code», «By brand», «By quantity») and a «Running low» filter.
Started skeins and skein length
If a skein has been cut into, tick «Started»: the tile gets a clipped corner. In calculations a started skein counts as half.
Skein length differs from brand to brand. The site knows the length for many brands. If yours is a spool or a different winding, enter your own figure in «Skein length, m» on the floss card.
Beads
In the «Beads» section choose a brand from the list, type the «Code» as on the label, then the size, the coating, the «Quantity» and the «Unit» (grams, pieces, packets or tubes). The code's spelling is evened out for you: DB-10, DB10 and DB0010 are one and the same code.
If beads are recorded in grams, an approximate bead count («≈ … pcs») is shown beside the quantity. If you have weighed beads yourself on jeweller's scales, enter your own figure in «Beads per gram»; it takes priority over the reference figure.
Lots are never mixed. Beads of one code from different lots are two separate tiles, because they must not be mixed in one piece of work. So fill in the «Lot» if you know it.
Kits
Kits are not added in the stash but from the kit's page in the kit catalogue (/en/gallery/kits). Open the kit and click «I have this kit». Each press is one more box: if you own three identical kits, there will be three tiles. Each box has its own «Condition» («Whole» or «Started») and its own «Description», for example how much is stitched and whether everything is there.
A kit review is left on the kit's page. Anyone who has that kit in their stash may write one. There is one review per kit, not one per box.
Selling a kit. On the item's card tick «For sale» and set a «Price» and «Currency» (an empty price means «by arrangement»). The kit then appears with your name in the «For sale» block on the kit's page. To list it on the marketplace, click «Put it on the board»: a listing needs a title, a description and photographs, and the price carries over by itself. How listings and deals work is explained in Classifieds: selling, deals and auctions.
Fabric and the other sections
In «Fabric» enter a name, the fabric type, the count, the width and height in centimetres, and the unit – a cut or a metre. The other sections work the same way: a name, a quantity, a unit and a few fields that suit that kind of item.
How to change or remove an item
Click the tile's name to open its card. Change the fields and click «Save». To remove the item altogether, click «Remove» at the bottom and confirm. This removes it only from your stash.
What is running low
Floss has a threshold: when the quantity reaches it, the tile shows «Running low». You can set a threshold of your own for one item on its card, in «Running-low threshold»; if the field is empty, the section's threshold applies.
Click «Running low (N)» above the tiles to see only such items. The «Add everything running low to the list» button puts them on the shopping list at once, with a small reserve. Items already on the list are not doubled.
What I am missing for a chart
The «What I am missing» block appears on a chart's page in the catalogue (only when you are logged in), on the page of your own chart and on a project's page. It compares the chart's floss with your stash.
- If you have not recorded any floss yet, the block offers «Open the stash».
- For each colour it shows how many skeins are needed (as a range, because use depends on how you stitch), how many you have or «none on the shelf», and how many are missing.
- In a project the calculation counts what is left to stitch, not the whole chart.
- If a colour is missing but you have a close one on your shelf, it is shown under «Close on your shelf». The «Use this instead» button puts that colour on the shopping list in place of the missing one, recalculated to its skein length.
- Colours outside the catalogue and beads are not counted.
«To the list» next to a colour adds that one colour to the shopping list; «Add the missing to my list» adds them all. The list gets the top of the range plus a reserve.
Pressing again does not double the list. One chart asks for its floss once: press again and its share is simply recalculated. A second chart with its own floss does add its own share, so there is enough floss for both projects.
The shopping list
Open it with the «Shopping list» button on the «Stash» page, in any section or on the «Dashboard», or at /en/stash/shopping. The list is grouped by brand so you can buy at one counter. Each item shows its colour, code, how many to buy, how many you have, and which chart or project needs it.
- «Bought N» – you bought it all. The item leaves the list and what you bought is added to your stash at once.
- «Bought…» with the «how many» field – you bought part of it. The item stays on the list with a smaller number.
- «Undo» appears right after a purchase is marked, in case you tapped the wrong row. Only the last purchase can be undone, and only straight away: after any other action the button is gone.
- «Take off the list» – no longer needed, nothing bought.
To add floss by hand, open its card, enter in «Need more» how many you want beyond what you have, and click «Add to the list». Here every press is a new request, and the number on the list grows.
The shopping list is always visible to you alone. The page does not open without an internet connection.
Who sees your stash
By default every stash section is visible only to you. To open a section, click «change» next to «Visible to: …», or go to «Settings» (/en/settings), find the «Who sees what» block and the «My stash: …» lines. For each section you can choose «Only me», «Signed-in people» or «Everyone».
An opened section appears in the «Stash» block on your profile and has a public page of its own. Others see only the tiles there: no buttons, forms or item cards, and no «running low» marks. Search engines do not index these pages.
If a section is closed, anyone else opening its address sees «page not found» – the site does not even confirm that the section exists.
